We consider ourselves to be an environmentally aware company. Taking personal responsibility for our actions, we all try to ensure everything we do has a minimum impact on the environment.

So… one of the fun things we have adopted is Origami!

Origami has multiple benefits in the workplace. It is great for using scrap paper, but many people also find the process of doing origami to be very relaxing and a great tool for reducing stress.

Origami engages both the mind and hands to produce a calming effect. The art of origami involves folding and creasing paper. This uses both sides of your brain. The brain is divided into two halves as we know, the right-hand side controls the left hand and the left-hand side controls the right hand. As you engage your mind to tell your hands what to do this gives both mind and body a channel or focus. As both mind and body are absorbed in the detail of folding and creasing the paper. The design starts to take shape into something aesthetic you become more like yourself. The sense of fulfilment and resulting satisfaction help relieve the symptoms which you felt beforehand. Simple origami folds and creases can be used to make a wide variety of designs. Including animals and flowers.

The Flapping Bird is a great starting point is it is one of the easiest to create. So instead of scrolling through your social media timeline, why not give it a try!

All you need is a square piece of (scrap) paper and some patience. You can follow this video that we found on the Origami Fun website.
